This is a brand new laptop, you shouldn't have to struggle so much. While we can all start telling you to run memory diags, hard disk diags etc., I think you should contact Asus and get them to set it right for you. And its really moronic of OEMs to push bios updates like any regular run of the mill update.

I totally agree... Why are you messing with your pc so much!!!!

    Leave it alone.

Flashing your BOIS should have nothing to do with Windows not starting.

If you have your disc, try to do a startup repair.

Don`t ever do anything to your BIOS if it`s working fine!

My Bios update was different than in that video, so the video doesn't help.
I've contacted Asus for help.. but this is an utter misery.. brand new laptop wrecked by the manufacturer's own update..
Putting BIOS Update in Windows directly as if it were Firefox upgrade or something.. proposterous !

What now, throw away the laptop ? Even my Windows licence is OEM, if I don't restore it, I don't think I can reinstall & activate it again. Misery, thats what this turned out to be.

Why did you reinstall a new Notebook?

I wasn't messing with it at all. Asus Live Update poped up in Windows, 2 updates were checked, one was for livecam, other for bios, I clicked yes without even thinking about it, and from there it all went to hell.. Why would they even include Bios update when it can so easily wreck a system..

Exactly, barely few days since I installed Windows, and now this..

OK, with all that said. Do you want to fix your laptop ????

Don`t say microsoft messed it up, you have the choice to install an update or not.

I have all 10 of my machines ( give or take a few ) set to inform me of updates but not to download or install them.

There is no reason to install an update you don`t need.

But back to your problem. Do you have a recovery partition ( I think you wiped that out ) or the os discs?

While your at it change your boot order to cd, dvd, 1st and hard drive 2nd. disable the last 2.

The fact that you got it free makes it even better to get it up and running.

Why don`t you just mail it to me ???

Pardon me, I worked all nite installing new self serve checkouts at Home Depot.

Also, in your bios make sure your date is correct and if you don`t have a floppy drive make sure you change it to disabled.
