Windows 7: lost gb on my ssd upon win7 reinstall

Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-bit

I would set the pagefile size manually rather than letting Windows manage it. For your system, 4GB ought to be perfect (that is, enter 4096 for the minimum and maximum pagefile sizes on your C: drive).

As for why the third-party partition manager showed tiny slices of unallocated space at the beginning and end of your SSD and Windows doesn't, there's a simple answer.
Windows 7 is SSD-aware and will create the first partition at sector offset 2048 rather than 63 (as is common with harddisks). 2048 sectors means a 1024KB or 1MB offset from the physical start of the SSD drive, this is to ensure that clusters are aligned with the SSD's internal block structure to avoid multiple reads and re-writes.
So Windows will actually create partitions in "steps" of 1MB which explains the bit of free space at the end too I guess. As a consequence, Windows doesn't bother showing you the unused space but third-party apps will (more correctly) show it.
