Hello everyone I have copied the contents of a windows 7 x64 installation DVD onto a hard disk partition. This is so I can launch installation and recovery's from disk without the need for a DVD or DVD-drive. Can anybody tell me how to make this partition bootable ?

Just use easybcd to add a boot menu entry for that partition. If you dont know what I'm talking about, follow this tut.

You need to mark the partition active.

Ray, my friend....one can use easybcd or not. If one uses easybcd, one gets a boot menu entry that can be selected to boot into the required partition. Its very convenient and takes away the hassle of having to mark partitions active/inactive. Thats the way I advised the OP and also the way used in that tut. If you'd like to tell the OP how to go about it without easybcd, please explain to him how to mark partitions active/inactive. Between the 2 methods, I'd always advise using easybcd.

Yes, you would mark the Recovery partition active, than install.
