Haven't dealt with Haupage since the early days of XP but with most of these types of hardware you may find that the drivers work but often the bundled apps have issues with a new OS.

What I would suggest is to check the website for the latest Vista Drivers and Apps and install them in compatibility mode If you have problems with just the bundled apps you could try Media centre

you HAVE to take ownership of the files that were created in xp, BUT you will lose ownership in XP.. i know from experience, and it was a pain in my ass to get ownership back under XP considering i couldnt log into my desktop in xp anymore. its easier to get an external drive / usb stick /dvd-rw and do it that way.

sorry if this has been answered already, i only read the first page, lol.

The issue of not being able to access the files from XP is a valid one.

However, if only the file structure that you need to copy is edted from within Win 7 this should not affect the system operation within XP

The thing you have to do is once you have taken ownership you need to apply the permissions for the windows 7 users who need access.

It is also wise to explicitly apply permissions for XP users from within XP, and not rely on the default administrative access in XP.

The system will run quite happily on both XP and Windows 7 accessing these files with both sets of permissions in place.

The highlighted user in the image above is my user name from another windows OS, (Vista in this case but applies equaly to XP), and I assure you I can access the file in either OS
