Partition Missing after installin Win7 Ultimate..plz Help

Hello

I used to have Windows XP SP2

I used to have 2 partitions .. C and D .. Where D: was for windows XP

I inserted Windows 7 Ultimate DVD and Formatted D: and Installed Win7 on it

When Computer Starts..It gives me 2 choices...Earlier Windows & Windows 7

If I click on Earlier Windows...it gives a black screen and I need to restart

If I click on Windows 7...it gets me in..but the partition C: which I saved all my files on...is hidden and not showing

I have 500 GB HDD .. and in windows 7 it is showing now only 1 partition with 100 GB

Where is my OLD partition ?? I need my files for God's sake !!!

and what can I do to restore it ? and how do I get rid from having 2 choices for Windows????


PS::: I went to Control Panel..Computer Management..and the OLD partition showed with correct capacity 371GB but its named: Local Disk

How can I use it and show it on My computer ??

I solved it by JUST Clicking on the Missing Drive in Diskmanagement and change its Letter to anything and it showed UP


STILL need the way to get rid of selecting Operating System on Boot...Earlier Windows & Windows 7

How to get rid of "Earlier Windows" which in case u click it..it will give u a black screen ???

1) You made your Windows 7 partition a Logical drive.
2) You install to partition 2.
3) Your partition 1 may be the Win XP install.

Add a drive letter to partition 1 & check for your DATA.

What OS was on the first Partition - you dont' say in your post? It should still be there and booted by the "Earlier" Menu choice. If there's no OS there you wanted to save, then that's where I would have installed Win7 (for faster reads) after moving data to D.

I used to have Windows XP SP3 on D: and my storage partition named C:

and NOW .. I have Windows 7 Ultimate On C: 94GB NTFS and my storage partition name was ReNAMED to A: 371 GB NTFS and UnAllocated 9MB

So what can I do now to get rid of the message that comes to me when booting asking which windows to go for ??

Another question : If I do just like (DUZZY) said , "bcdedit /delete {ntldr} /f". Does this Formats C: or what does it really do ?????????????

We use automated methods here which are easier for users than line commands:

Install EasyBCD (earlier versions are still free) to Delete the listing on Edit Boot Menu tab: EasyBCD 2.0.2 - NeoSmart Technologies.

This edits the BCD rather than just hiding the entry as can be done from Computer>Properties>Advanced Options>Startup.

I would change your Storage partition letter to another besides A. You can also not delete that partition as your System boot files were placed there. We can help you move the System boot files to Win7 partition if needed.

It is strange you would have a Boot Menu configured during the install of Win7 if there was no OS on the first partition. Was there ever one there?

Would BCD programs affect any of the partitions or delete any files ??????????

I personally would backup the DATA & clean install to partition 1.
SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation
Clean Install Windows 7
Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

EasyBCD will only remove the Earlier Version from the BCD which is not booting anyway.

I would strongly consider reinstalling after backing up your files externally, then delete all partitions during install and create new as you wish following these illustrated steps: Perfect Reinstall
