How did this engineer reinstall your WIn7 - run Factory Recovery or Clean reinstall from the retail DVD?

You say he retrieved your Win7 key but the key must be replaced by Acer if it is not readable on the COA sticker.. Are you sure he didn't crack it with a bootleg activation? This can cause you trouble.

At this point I would find a Win7 installation DVD to clean reinstall, wiping your HD as a precaution against any corrupt, illegal or infectious code: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

    Perfect Reinstall

One of my PCs is an ACER and it's ok as a PC. What you are experiencing is very poor customer service which I have experienced with ACER.

    You say
"Ive had an Acer laspire 4810TZ laptop since 2010"

If it is still under Warranty or was under warranty when they first failed to fix your problem, then insist that they fix the problem now. All this fuss over product keys sounds like they are just trying to be difficult.
    Do you have your receipt?
How can a COA sticker (Required by to be affixed by ACER) wear off in 12 months or less.

At the very least get them to give you a set of factory recovery disks.
If the HDD subsequently proves defective they should replace it.

Sounds like you have been using the NOTEBOOK on your lap without a notebook cooler; Acer will class that as misuse.

The OP said The COA was on the back on the PC.
Notebooks used to be called laptops didn't they?
Anyway I suggest you demand better service.

If you simply don't want any more aggravation buy a set of factory restore disks from ACER - they shouldn't cost too much.

Im actualy worried now lol, thats the whole reason why I wanted to reset it back to default when I cam home...I couldnt find any trace of windows being installed as a trial because if it was, it would say so right at the beginning righ? Ive never had to have a trial version of windows operating system- if it is a trial does it does it not say so at the start up or somewhere? I waiting on the dvd, God only knows how long it will take, I hope sooner. Because the engineer took 3 hours just towipe the system ... but i still have the same problem, BOOTMNGR is still missing-granted thats maybe because I tried to reset it back to factory default roughly 3 hours after it had ALREADY been wiped. But I was trying did to get the product key back, after failing to from microsoft because teh tech team told me the department i needed was closed.
But thanks to the other poster your right, I should defintely demand better service, but its a tad difficult to understand the agents becuase their accents are so strong, Im not being mean but its the truth and they always refuse to pass me on to a supervisor or manger! Thye always say they can help and I know its a bit embaresing to have to get to your supervisor .. But i should tried to be more adament when speaking, lol I dont want to get a bad rep with them so they dont help me later on but its been nearly 2 years so its a bit much now.
please someone let me know lol, how one is supposed to be SURE if theyre running a trial version of windows 7, I may not of have had it running for long today but I'm not sure if I was running a trial because it never said anything at start up.. Also the whole set up had changed .on my acer when the engineer fixed it, so I questioned the engineer on this and he merly shrugged it off as that's the way its supposed to be.. But I've unfortunetly had to wipe my system many times and its NEVER looked like that befoe, another reason to add to my insane idea of resetting my system

A acer engineer would not install a trail version.

I have owned a few Acer laptops, my previous ones came with recovery disks. My last Acer I just bought a couple months ago, the REcovery disks were offered to me for $60 by Staples.ca
I declined and just used Erecovery to back up the Acer laptop to DVD's. A lot of retailers don't tell their customers this info, that they need to create Recovery disks.

I have never had to deal with Acer other than that.

I do wonder if you have a bad hdd as well and you should check that out, seeing you have problems copying the image after pressing Alt/F10

I think if its under warranty, I would as well get support to help you better

I agree in using a laptop cooler as well. I even use one on my Alienware M17x with all the cooling it has. Highly recommended for laptops.

Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.
Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

As we get alot of Acer with bad HD drives, I would Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.
Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.
    HD Diagnostic
While you are awaiting for the Startup Repair CD, run the HD Drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool.

Thanks so much I really appreciate everyones advice lol. Im done freaking out now , its just a lesson I had to learn- dont pretend to now how fix icking by your own laptop lol!
Never again, but the engineer I took it too, does business with another engineer we knw very well . Hes a top-notch guy and fixes tech well, but I couldnt wait untill monday, so I ended paying more money than I should of. But I will take it to him tomorow but first, I hope to God I can get my refund back . Im still surprised theres a few sticking by acer. they sold me a faulty laptop, full stop. It should of worked as it was supposed to, if not 10 hours atleast something close to it...not 3 or less! Also there was a peritcular laptop in the acer aspire series that recalled, and it wasnt a few products its was well in the hundreds, I checked online an dI am sure one of them was mine. Dont even get me started on the memory of the laptop lolz. But atleast i can admit blame and complty 'oh woe is me' I should of never bought an acer, I mean the 1st time was clue enough, I do graphic design so these laptops are not eqipped for the strenous programmes I intall, even though the sales guys were 100% sure this was the right one. But its all right, there worse things in the world and people sell crap prodcts to everyone on a daily basis, Ill just be on the lookout next time hopefully not get conned again. But it does seem Im one of the few who has a problem with acer, my cousin has one and for a good number of yars and hes fien with it..but thats only one person so.....
Ahh anyway, but Im glad I found this forum everyone is really helpful, compared to other forums. Ive never even posted on a tech forum becuase I never thought people would answer , so the little advice is much appreciated. kudos to all!
