Win 7 OEM Disk & new Hard drive installation

I'm running Win XP 32 bit & trying to install Win 7 OEM 64 bit to a new SATA harddrive(Seagate 500GB). The harddrive has been partitiioned & Win XP Explorer sees it & writes & reads to it. When I put the Win XP 32 bit installation disk in the SATA DVD drive & click the setup.exe file, the Win XP installation starts. When I put the Win 7 OEM 64 bit disk in the SATA DVD drive, Win XP Explorer sees it, but of course will not run the Win 7 setup.exe file(Error "Not a valid Win 32 App". When I go to the MB BIOS & set the 1st Boot Device to the DVD & put either the Win XP or Win 7 OEM disk in the DVD, the computer goes to the DVD, but I get Error message"NTLDR Missing" & it will not boot. I copied the Win 7 OEM disk to a 4GB flash drive & tried to boot from it, but got Error message"Boot failed".
These are authentic MS installation disks.
Any help on solveing this will be appreciated.

The disks don't seem to be booting. Are you getting a prompt to "Press any key to boot CD/DVD?" XP is on a CD if this is only a DVD drive as stated. You may need to clean the OD, reinstall it, try another, or replace it.

Try writing the Win7 DVD to flash stick using UltraISO trial version: On File tab select Open DVD, on BOotable tab select Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB, Removable or HD's in BIOS setup or using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen.

Problem with Win XP not booting from SATA DVD/CD Drive is fixed. I needed to set the 1st boot device in BIOS to the CDROM part of the DVD/CD drive rather than the DVD part since Win XP is on CD. Thanks

Win 7 OEM disk still won't boot from SATA DVD drive when 1st boot device is set to the DVD drive. 1st boot device is set to: IDE:Lite, OL LTP-06 (SATA DVD).
1st Drive is set to: SATA:3M-ST3500 (New 500BG Harddrive).

I'm running Win XP 32bit & trying to install Win 7 OEM to a new 500GB SATA Harddrive.
The harddrive is partitioned & viewable in Win Explorer.

I can't boot from the hard drive if I leave my BIOS set to boot from DVD first. The solution is to leave the BIOS set to hard drive first, and then choose DVD first when required through a one-time boot menu. The menu is accessible by F12 on my system. Might be something else on your system?

On Asus' mobos the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key is F8. Then choose the DVD drive.

Are you trying to configure a Win7-XP Dual Boot with XP on another HD? Try unplugging the XP HD during Win7 install. After install choose preferred HD to boot first in BIOS setup, use F8 to boot the other OS HD.

If install still fails there are other steps we can give to troubleshoot. Try running the Win7 installer from XP desktop for one, choosing Custom install then the target HD to install.

Disconnect the XP Disk with only the new Sata HDD connected and do a normal install. If you are including a system reserved partition mark this as active before the install.

Win 7 OEM disk wom't boot from DVD drive

I finally got Win 7 OEM installed by using a Bootable USB Flashdrive. It loaded & installed fast. Win 7 works fine. However I still can't boot from the Win 7 OEM disk when it's in the DVD drive. I did get the BIOS boot menu to come by using the F8 key on restart, but when I select the DVD drive it still does not boot to the DVD, but goes to the Harddrive & starts Win 7.

Try another bootable disk - does it boot?

If not, try cleaning, reinstalling or replacing the OD.

If so, check the condition of the disk. If you burned it yourself, confirm or download another ISO, burn to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed.
