Does anyone yet know what uses storport.sys as a driver?

This article is about the same as the one posted earlier. Was the update installed or do you already have it?

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista on a computer that uses more than 3 GB of RAM: "STOP 0x0000000A"

Does anyone remember the times when we went from Win 98 to XP, I believe, where the suggestion was to uninstall the devices in Device Manager prior to the upgrade. I wonder if such a thing could be used for an in-place upgrade of Vista?

Anybody see this one yet.

Latest Storage Driver Versions... Please note this post was last updated July 15th, 2009.

There are links to drivers.

Any over clocking CPU, GPU, RAM?

BIOS updated and set to defaults.

What graphics card(s)? Which Cable used to connect to monitor?

If you can answer the questions from Doc's link, it would help everyone.

This article applies to Vista, but you may find something useful. It concerns migrating drivers.

A computer may restart unexpectedly, and the operating system is rolled back to the previous operating system during an upgrade to Windows Vista

Is the Storport.sys really a SCSI driver? Can the controller be removed from the system or turned off in the Bios until after the install?

I tried removing all but 1 stick of RAM, so I'm down to 2 GB. With the RAM removed, instead of getting a bluescreen, the machine reboots at the point where it bluescreened before. Unfortunately, between the time I first posted this and now, I was taking out the RAM and dropped the machine, so it may have new problems now. The bluescreen predates the drop, however. I'm installing from a bootable DVD downloaded from MSDN. It's the latest Ultimate x64 DVD as of last week, I'll try to obtain the build number. I burned it using Free Create Burn ISO, but I did not use a slow speed. I can retry with a slower speed, since I've had several discs fail, but all were high-speed burns. I'm trying to do a clean install, but the partition I'm using does contain remnants of an old vista system. I have a non-booting Vista partition and a working Ubuntu install on a couple of other partitions. Since I've never gotten far enough to select a partition, I'm guessing that's not causing the problem. I last updated my BIOS a few months ago, so I'll check whether there are any new revisions. I'm not doing any overclocking. I'm connecting the 8800 GTS to the monitor via the DVI cable that came with the monitor. As far as I know, the system does not have actual SCSI, just SATA, and I'm attempting to install from an SATA dvd-rom onto an SATA hard disk, so disabling it isn't really going to work. I can try unplugging everything else and using VGA, but I'll have to use a DVI->VGA converter. I'm not sure if that nullifies the difference. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I would definitely try re-burning the DVD or better yet put it on a USB memory key.
If you burn another DVD, burn at x2.

Can't find much info on your MOBO, if you have 'Cool & Quite' or something similar turn it off in BIOS. We've seen several instances where this helped.

These Seven Forums tutorials will be helpful.
