Issues with recovery and missing boot loader

Ok, I read over this forum, and tried several of the options.
My issue:
Boot loader is missing from HD. I entered the windows repair from dvd, and it finally showed the windows installation, C:\Windows (recovered). Tried selecting it again to have windows reinstall MBR, but now it says version is not compatible. So, needless to say, I can't proceed any further.

The only thing I can figure is the the windows dvd is both x86 and x64, thereby not recognizing that I have the x64 installed. Maybe?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the first method given here to get into System Recovery Options?

If not burn a System Repair Disk.

Run Startup Repair 3 Separate Times making sure Win7 System Reserved partition (preferred) or Win7 partition is still marked Active: Partition Wizard

You can also use free Partition Wizard to see a picture of your HD, mark Active, then click on Win7 HD to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR which might preclude the need to run the Repairs.

I tried your steps listed in the links. On my first attempt, a windows installation wasn't found, but I did the diskpart command lines and then the repair utility, the second time, found and listed the installation as recovered. You recommended that doing it 3 times would force windows to reload the mbr, but after a reboot, now I get the "not compatible" message. I cannot proceed any further with the repair.

I gave you a number of steps and you replied to one of them.

Please report back on the rest of the steps given or ask questions on how to get them done.

Thoroughness is the only way to get problems like this sorted quickly.

Partition Wizard - For some reason, my computer wouldn't boot the program. It starts, but I get a error about sectors?

Other live cds have worked though. I tried gparted, but really at a loss with linux commands. Same with sysresccd. Both seem to be able to repair the mbr, but I don't really understand what I'm doing inside those programs. I was able to view the partitions, and noticed that my windows partition was labeled *boot. Went through the Windows startup repair, it noticed the boot mgr was screwed up and tried to automatically repair the file. Rebooted, no luck. Back into Windows repair, but this time I got the version not compatible message again.

You can burn the Repair CD on any WIn7 computer for your bit version (32 or 64). You will need this for repairs.

I've never heard of PW CD not booting after going through it's Linux gyrations. Try burning another at 4x speed with ImgBurn. Or locate a Win7 installation DVD (search Google for Official Win7 ISO downloads) which has the Repair console on second screen, and could be used to reinstall if necessary.

You can also copy out your files using the Repair CD/DVD and run Factory Recovery partition from boot (if you have it) or disks you made or order from Tech Support.
