Using Ubuntu 11.10, would like to reinstall Win 7 Home Premium

I have a HP laptop, had to reinstall win 7, but had problems. So Ubuntu 11.10 is now running. IS there a tutorial as to how to partition and reinstall? I made the 4 restore disks when I purchased laptop, or should I invest in a new full Win 7 version? Any thoughts would be helpful.:)

My guess is that the recovery disks will take care of the partitioning and formatting for you. I don't see any reason at all to purchase another retail copy of Windows, when you already own it with your hardware purchase and you have your recovery disks.

If you don't want the bloated HP Recovery run from its partition or the Recovery Disks, then find a Win7 retail installation DVD for your version to clean reinstall with Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7

Otherwise here is how to run HP Recovery from partition or Disks: HP Backup and Recovery Manager

You own the copy of Win7 which came on with your computer for the life of the machine, to reinstall any way you please. A Clean reinstall without the bloatware and useless factory utilities which have better versions built into Win7 is a vastly superior install, especially with HP's.

using ubuntu, unable to reinstall win 7

I have tried reinstalling windows 7 using the restore disks I made after purchasing this HP notebook, but they stop during reinstall on disk 3 @ 73%, have tried twice. Why aren't system disks included anymore! !!!!

Do you still have the Recovery Partition? Try running it now using links given earlier.

You would have to ask HP why they don't include Recovery Disks. If the disk you made don't work then you'll need to run Recovery from partition, order Disks from Tech Support, or find a Win7 retail installer for your version to clean reinstall with the Product Key on COA sticker.

Thank you! Unfortunately, the recovery partition was deleted with the Ubuntu install. I liked my few days of using Ubuntu but my husband doesn't like change..so it's back to windows... I have a tech person taking care of it now so I'm sure it'll come back in great shape
