Windows 7 licence transfer help please

Just had to almost rebuild my computer due to a plug on my motherboard shorting out and needing to replace the processor, ram and hard drives as well. was wondering if i would have any problems installing my Windows 7 Ultimate that was an upgrade from either a Windows XP Media Center OEM or a Windows Vista OEM? Can't remember which one i decided to upgrade from since I was dual booting both at the time.

The fact that they were OEM means the qualifying XP or Vista lived and died with that mobo, so there must be another retail qualifying OS to use 7 Upgrade version on the new hardware.

It doesn't have to be installed and this is on the honor system but that's the rules under the EULA, since you asked. Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

The Upgrade version of course lives on for life, migratable to any hardware of your choice which has a qualifying XP or Vista associated with it, either OEM or retail you don't plan to use again while it serves as qualifier.

Since your old system died, you should try to install the upgrade verion. And if you have activation problems, call MS and explain the problem: Activation and registration of a Microsoft product
