Windows 7 x86 MSI Error 1904

Hi
I made a MSI using Wise Installation Express (v7.3). It contains many dll's and OCX's. Tried both selfreg and without it. I am installing it on a Windows 7 RC image.

My error message during the install goes something like this "error 1904 Failed to register RichViewEditX.ocx". It also fails on csXImage.ocx. Both ocx's are components we bought for our aging VB6 app.

I tried using regsvr32, but the OS rejected it and said something about Kernel32.dll error. I checked for dependencies, but at least one ocx was dependency free. Thus it should work on that one, but it didn't.

The ocx's are orignally Delphi components which have been made as VB6 ActiveX's.

What can I do to correct this problem? The web has not the answers, as far as I have searched...

regards,
Greendaale

well welcome to sevenforums D:
so you are trying to add files to the windows 7 installer? (im a bit confsed)
if you are trying to modify the windows 7 rc iso file, you can extract the files first and modify the files and then recreate the iso files i guess lol.
also visual basic is extremely old (like a decade old lol) is it possible that you cant install it becuz the ocx and dll are too old or incompatible =/

Thanks for your reply.

I have made a MSI package using Wise. It is error free to make the package, but it fails during install on Windows 7.

There is a possibility that the components I try to rgeister are too old, but I updated one of the component (csXImage.ocx) and talked to the maker, who said they were able to register the ocx on Windows 7. So, in theory I should be able to do that too. But I tried, but it failed.

Any more suggestions for a solution?

i dunno, make sure you have full admin privileges to make the changes too. wat are you trying to do with the image? Try doing this on a virtual machine or something... Also, cant you register it manually?
