Still Cant Complete Install, new build (Stripped to essentials) :'(

    Hello anyone and everyone!

This is my first post, not normally one to post with my problems, try to find sollutions myself but after a week of reading and failed attempts i dont know what to do.

I am close on giving up with Windows 7, Just want to curl up in a ball, go to sleep and either wake up with a working install or with the masses of money that ive spent back in my pocket and no recollection of the mind shattering week long experience. :'(

    ----- Background Story -----

Basically my computer died a horrific and painful death a couple of weeks ago, Motherboard and Hardrive knackered... no backups (was always on the list as a tomorrow job), everything gone!!

Thought stuff it, and with an initial budget of £300 went about spec'ing up a new system.
Needless to say the budget went out the window and ive overspent a little.

    ------ My New System ------

    Motherboard:
    MSI 990FXA GD80

    Processor:
    AMD FX 8350

    Graphics Card:
    Nvidea GeForce 7950 GX2

    RAM:
    12GB DDR3 1600 Kingston Hyper X

    PSU:
    CoolerMaster GX750 Bronze

    HDD:
    1TB SATA WDBlue 64MB
250GB SATA Maxtor Diamond Max 21

    -----------Things Done So Far-------------
    _____________________________________

Removed all RAM but 1 4GB Stick
Removed Additional Hard Drive and all PCI cards
Removed all additional USB Board Connections
    Unplugged all USB Devices
Disabled LAN / Sound / USB3 in Bios
    Changed Bios settings to AHCI
Fully Formatted HardDrive on another computer
Installing Windows onto a 250GB partition

    ---------------------------------------------

I initially tried installing Windows 7 64x Ultimate using a disk image on a USB thumb drive.

The installation would start and appear as if it completes. Then reboots, says its updating the registry etc.. then reboots again, appears to complete, Reboots then hangs on a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top corner.
During this time there is no disk activity and no response etc..

Forced restart using reset switch and Windows Tries to load but hangs at the black loading screen with the windows logo.

I have tried leaving it overnight but nothing.

I then have restarted the computer and selected to boot into safe mode

Safe mode loads but says windows cant complete the install in safe mode and to restart the computer.

Restart the computer and I get the same cycle...

    ---------------------------------

I managed to get a bit further by starting in safe mode
and while the message is displayed entering Command Prompt and going to device manager using 'compmgmtlauncher' and disabling my video card driver.

I then reset the computer and it no longer hangs at the windows boot screen but when it loads it gives me the following error:

"The computer was restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, Click OK to restart the computer, then restart the installation"

    -------------------------

I have tried burning the ISO to a DVD but got the same and I have also tried another version of Windows 7 x64 and the exact same happens

    -------------------------------

The memory test comes back fine and The repair start up problems utility within the Windows 7 install disk doesnt help....

Does anyone know what else I can possibly do.....

Everything is new and ive checked MSI's site and the latest version of the BIOS is installed (well there is one newer version but it says its for Windows 8 compatability)

I am baffled... never had a problem like this

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. If an EFI BIOS, enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. I would burn a DVD to see if it works, otherwise rewrite the stick with ISO and tool in blue link.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
    CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
    FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
    ACTIVE
    EXIT
    EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

If install again falters as before, Access Device Manager During Windows 7 Installation to disable any Devices in error to see if install will complete so you can update them from desktop:

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of marking it Active which overcomes certain install failures.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, appreciate the help. As an update, I went around to my friends who does IT support (mainly server stuff) last night to have a go with another Windows Disk (retail 64x DVD).. same problem. And we tried another Graphics Card, an old very basic small ATI Radeon card. Now this got a 'tiny' bit further. Rather than hanging with the flashing underscore after the second or third reset it did actually re boot, then went to the Windows logo on the black screen, tried to load then the screen began to flicker with red lines, hung for a second then restarted. after this, no joy though and dont have another graphics card to test with. I will go and try the steps posted in the above reply and see what happens, Again, Thanks for taking the time to read this and any/all help provided.

De Ja Vu, Still No Joy

Ive tried the suggested steps several times today, still no joy. Install is doing the exact same as before and going to a black screen with a flashing underscore during 'completing install' on 2nd ReBoot :'(

If possible post back a camera snap of Device Manager during install: Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

What you're looking for is any device with a ! showing it is in error. Double click on it to Disable the device.

Did you try a new installer? Try writing the latest official installer from tutorial to flash stick using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive which always works.

Now install all rounds of Important and Optional Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

Then check if Devices are still missing drivers in Device Manager and if so import any drivers still missing from the Support Downloads webpage for the model PC or device.
