can't install win7 from previously made recovery disks
I installed SP1 on a Toshiba laptop, and it caused boot up problems, that went from bad to worse-tried everything, start up repair, command prompt bootrec etc. So, I wanted to fix win 7, and of course, having no installation CD, have to use the recovery disks made 8 months ago (there are 2 of them). THe process seems to go along well "applying progress" (even if I can't understand why as the percent done increase, the time remaining increases as well). Anyway, after many hours, the screen says that it can't go any further, but to continue, press any key. I press any key and get the command prompt--X:windows\system32\ which just sits there. What is going on, what am I doing wrong? Please help, this is not my computer, which makes the fact that I crashed it even worse! Should I try and buy a win 7 installation disk, or will these home made disks work? Thanks
