windows 7 pro 32bit
help please

Hi, I am unable to use the recovery console by using F8. My D drive has the oriiginal image which i want to use to get my laptop back to factory settings. I am fairly capable in navigating my way around laptop, files, editing regestry settings (with step by step guidence) etc.
This laptop has the oem version of windows 7 pro 32 bit, And I never got round to making a recovery disk, however I managed to get one for my version of windows. However there is no reinstall option. and if i try to use the back up and restore in control panel - recover - advanced - use system image to recover your pc. i get windows cannot restart the computer into windows recovery enviroment...
If you think your method would work for me, would you be able to give me step by step guide?

You say you obtained a Recovery Disk for your make/model. Can you boot from it? This should reinstall the System Recovery Options and Factory Recovery.

The System Image referred to in Backup & Recovery is for a Win7 backup image you make of your finished install. Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

If unable to boot the Recovery Disk try booting the Recov partition by marking it Active then rebooting: Partition - Mark as Active.
You may need to use Method Two to mark the existing System partition Active again, even run Startup Repair repeatedly from System Repair Disk so make one now.

Finally you can consider a superior clean reinstall using a Win7 installation DVD for your licensed version which we can provide if you still have a readable Product Key on the COA sticker on machine. This is a leaner install without the preinstalled factory crapware and useless utilities which have better versions built into Win7: Clean Reinstall steps

Hi jewels,

What kind of image do you have on your d drive?

Is it a windows system image you made- or do you mean the manufacturer recovery image?

(toshiba satalite pro L450d-12x)is the actual laptop
Its the Manufactures recovery Image
there is a recovery.wim and a winpe.wim

if i go into disk managment i can see

recovery_data (D:)

(unnamed) (OEM partition)

all of these have status of healthy.
I have tried to make a system repair disc, it comes up with could not be created (0x80070057)
I can get to the advanced boot options and all is normal except the repair option is not there.
There is alot of education software that came on the laptop which i do not have on cd.
is there a way to reinstal/repair toshiba repair console? so that i can then do a full factory recovery?
do i need the
windows 7 oem pro 32 bit recovery disc (the windows version i am using) or the toshiba satalite pro L450d-12x recovery disc?
thanks for you time

Hi jewels.

There may be a different key you need to use for your machine - F8 is normally reserved for winre.

Might be F10 or Del or something else - what does the manual say?

If you can't get to it that way:

It is not unusual to fail to create windows repair cd with oem preinstalled o/s.

It sounds like you have what you need on the recovery partition.

First of all, make sure you have some kind of boot media - partition wizard free boot cd will be fine .

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.

Mark the recovery partition Active.

Restart pc - with luck the recovery program will start up.
