    Installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, error 0x80300024


    Hello,

    I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, over a previous installation of Windows Vista 32 bit, using a Windows 7 upgrade disk. When I select the partition, it gives me the error in the title, 0x80300024. This is on a mac pro computer. I did some looking and found the following thread:

    Error (0x80300024)

    which suggests pulling out all harddrives besides the one I'm installing windows on. Or more specifically, pulling out all harddrives with OS X installed. However, in my case, Vista and OS X are installed on separate partitions of the same harddrive; so I can't exactly remove the OS X drive.

    Is there any way of fixing this?

    I do have another drive; I could move its content elsewhere and use bootcamp to make that a windows partition, but I only have an upgrade disk, and from what I've read without a previous Windows install I will have trouble with activation.

    I would be very grateful for any tips! Let me know if you need more information.

    Edit: Never mind. Major brain malfunction there, the two OS's are actually installed on separate drives, so the solution posed in the thread I linked above should work.

    You can do a clean install with an upgrade disc, see here: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version
