    Can't install Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    Hi Guys,

I have a computer 3 days old, I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, but it wouldn't let me, however I could install Windows 7 Ultimate x86.

I have 8GB RAM, and want to use it all instead of 3

What happens if I try installing from the computer logged in is it says "This version of windows is incompatible with your operating system" or something along the lines of that.

If I try booting from Startup, it glues on Expanding Files - 0% and 5 minutes later, I get this error:

"Windows cannot install the required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
    Error Code: 0x80070017"

I downloaded and burned the ISO Three times to different CD's, none worked.

I also tried installing a couple of times.

Infinite, x64 requires the x64 Windows DVD. Sounds like you only have the x86 one.

I have both x64, and x86, three x64 disks (none worked), and the x86 worked straight away

I am running 32 Bit but can't install through any 3 64 Bit disks.

Where did you get Win7? Confirm the ISO Hash, then burn to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed, always boot the DVD to install: Clean Install Windows 7

Next try writing ISO to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu, boot under USB, Removable or HD's using one-time BIOS BootMenu key. Set HD first to boot in BIOS.

I do not know what ISO Hash means

    It's called X17-59465, and 7601.... SP1:

A hash is a means of verifying that the file you downloaded was complete and uncorrupted.

There is a chance it is corrupt--although it's only a slight chance.

Have you downloaded it more than once and burned a disk from more than one download?

I downloaded it 3 different times for each disk though each disk did have some scratches....

I think you can count on that download source as long as it completed and is the exact size.

Try burning to DVD using ImgBurn or Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

Check also if you have a UEFI BIOS as it requires a different install method.

    How can I check?

Google your mobo, read Specs and Manual.

Enter BIOS setup and see if it has enabled GPT disk instead of MBR, also whether EFI or UEFI is enabled. If not I would not enable it but continue troubleshooting install to MBR disk.
