Upgrading from W7 HP to W7 Ultimate with an different language

    Hi all,

I've been having a bit of a headache with this.

I bought a Sony Vaio notebook in Germany (I live here) and for the particular model (F Series) I choosed they could not sell me the Windows 7 in English only in German.

It will arrive in one week with the Windows 7 Home Premium in German.

As my German is just okay I want to change the language to either English or Portuguese (I come from Brazil) and I have been reading on this website and other about Windows Anytime Upgrade and how the MUI (Multilanguage User Interface) is a technology only available for the W7 Ultimate.

It just happens that I have a DVD with the Windows 7 Ultimate in Portuguese and another with a friend of mine in English. I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade to the Ultimate version of W7 using the DVD and without having to do a clean install.

Is there going to be a problem because the language in the DVD is not German)

The American W7 Ultimate DVD I have is brand new and it would be a shame if I had to do all the configuration of my brand new Sony Vaio just because of the language.

    Thanks in advance.

When you first install Windows, choose the English or Portuguese.

But do remember the Keyboard will still be German.
