Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit partition/fovrmat

Hi, I have:

1 x 320gb hard drive - OS

2 x 1TB hard drive - DATA

I currently have vista installed on the 320gb hard drive, when isntalling windows i chose custom option and deleted the first partition from the 320gb drive, i then clicked next. Now does this automatically create the reovery patition within windows 7? and does this format the whole drive? I ask the latter question becuase immediately after i deleted the parition and clicked next, it started to expand the windows files and not sure if it formatted it? I remember in XP days it did the quick format and thorough format which took some time. Which format does windows 7 do? Why did MS take away the option to select which type of format u want to do! Grr. Thanks for the help!

The (quick) format is done under water.

I always do my partitioning with "Acronis Disk Director 10" on a boot cd, before I install windows.
That way I'm sure it will be a primary partition and it occupies all the free space.

You can download Acronis DD10 from the Acronis website.
It's a 30 day trial, but you can make a boot cd with the program and that you can use forever.
And partitioning outside the windows realm is safer and more stable.
