    Hi,

Usually your monitor might turn off, but it can be turned back again simly by moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard. I'm not sure about the rest of the system though....again it can usually be woken up by moving/interacting with the peripherals.

so your saying cause it went into like? a stanby mode, or my screen went black, i moved the mouse and it went on again, it showed the process can be finished as i know from previous experiances in windows the hdd turns off not being used, what if the HDD was turned off due the standby, would that make the process finish instantly due not knowing whats going on?

No - as long as clean all is running, the disk is being accessed and will not go into standyby mode.
