    0x80070057 error during HDD format

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 onto a 250Gb Western Digital hard drive in my recently upgraded computer. When attempting to format the drive I get a 0x80070057 error saying that Windows can not format the drive.

    Parts:
Mobo: ASUS RoG Maximus IV Extreme-Z
    CPU: Intel i5 2500
    HDD: 250Gb WD Blue Caviar
    RAM: 4 x 2Gb no brand
    Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 550Ti

    No current installed OS.

Are you using the booted Win7 installer Custom install Drive Options? Clean Install Windows 7

Try wiping the HD first with Diskpart Clean Command: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Note that this will destroy all data on the HD, but it should be backed up anyway.

If install still fails test HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

Does Event Viewer flesh out the error any further?
