    Triple Boot XP / Win7-64Bit / Win764BitCloneOfWin764Bit & EasyBCD

    Hi

1 Disk multiple partitions of which some are OS's as noted below:

WinXP: 1st OS installed to system, Boots Ok as C:
Win7-64Bit: 2nd OS installed to system, Boots Ok as C:
Win764BitCloneOfWin764Bit: 3rd OS partition file cloned from Win7-64Bit, Boots Ok as H:

Cloned above using Easus ToDo Backup Free v4.0, selected the file clone (rather than sector by sector), from Win7-64Bit C: installed EasyBCD and told it to config a BCD to boot Win764BitCloneOfWin764Bit, it referenced this as H: during the config of EasyBCD as that's the letter I gave to the OS. Sure enough it boots the cloned partition Ok boot the cloned OS refs itself as H:, oh and some of the environment variables are still referencing C: (not an issue this can be changed), but I won't bother changing them because I want this partition to also boot as C:

EasyBCD moderator tells me that even though it shows this as H: when configuring really underlying the writing of the BCD it is referencing unique disk identifiers.

I posed the question....could I not boot to the clone, change the drive letter of the clone to C: and get EasyBCD to look at the config, I change the drive letter now of the clone in EasyBCD to boot C: (the clone), it write the BCD and the cloned Win7 should now also boot as C: along with the other OS's untouched. I'm not getting a clear answer on this at the mo if this will work.

Does this SevenForum have any ideas how I get the partition clone to boot as C: and if my thoughts above would work? Thanks.

Clone it again using Automatic mode which is offered on Acronis' premium cloning/imaging suite that comes free with any WD or Seagate HD in the mix. Make sure to include the MBR and track 0 in the clone.

You will need to reinstall the 3rd OS with a new Product key for Windows 7.

You need one Product key for one Win XP & two Product keys for two Windows 7's.
