    Acer Veriton - 64-bit woes

    Hi there

    another 64-bit issues thread!

i have an acer veriton n282g ultra small form factor pc. i want to install 64-bit windows 7 ultimate to the machine, however it simply won't take it. it installs and runs 32-bit no problem, but 64 just hangs at the windows logo and 'starting windows'.

i have checked the specs and its a 64-bit atom d525 cpu and i have 4gb of ddr3 1333mhz ram in it. it also has the nvidia atom gpu in it, so its a bout as high a spec ussf u can get

    any thoughts people?

    cheers

    Ben

yes its was a brand new drive.

i have a feeling its the 64-bit clashing with the nvidia chipset for some reason. i cant get it to boot to safe mode in any form or vga mode, is there any other way i can get in to update the nvidia drivers before windows boots???

    Try disabling Video card drivers:

weird thing is i used a more upto date version of windows 7 pro x64 with SP1 on it, worked fine, but i dont have a spare licence for it so i cant use it, had to wipe it straight off again.

Use the x64 with SP! to install, than use Anytime Upgrade to 64-bit windows 7 ultimate.

    No install files needed.
Only the Upgrade key is need. ( a full key can be used.)
Anytime upgrade only adds-on the Programs & Features from version to version.

You can also use the Ultimate SP1 installer which should work if Pro SP1 worked.

How is this licensed and activated?

its a retail licence using old pre sp1 media, obviously i cant use the sp1 installer until i boot to windows??

either way if the cd key of the retail ult will allow me to install an already in use pro 64 sp1 then anytime activate i will be happy :)
