Cannot format 1.5 tb HDD external samsung

    hi,

    Problem:

the hard disk get detected but does not shows the whole size i.e 1.5 tb of the hdd and when I try to format it was not previously formatting it at all. but some how I managed to
get it started for format. now its just formatting 877 gb of size only. can any one help about that. andi lost my data any recovery thing i got the hdd formated.

What method did you use to format the hard drive? Try giving it a quick format using the below tutorial and see what happens.
    Format a HDD or USB

Next, search Disk Management in the start menu and press Enter. Take a screenshot and post it here. If you're not sure how to upload and post an image, read the following tutorial.

Sorry, I deleted my previous post and re-posted.

What's happened is you've created a partition of the hard drive. FYI, partitions basically are split up sections of a hard drive that are virtually separated. By the looks of it, you have 5 partitions. Two are roughly 260GB, one is 27MB and the other two are about 870GB. The total however comes to 2.2TB, 0.7TB larger than you originally said.

    Could you:
    a) Double check the size of your hard drive according to what it says either on the ox or the actual drive and,
    b) Decide whether you want to keep those partitions or join them back together into one larger partition.
