Full clean reinstall for a laptop that came with windows preloaded.

    hi,

I want to perform a clean install because my computer has lost its devices and the registry has been corrupted. Is a reinstall the same as a full clean reinstall? Can i perform a full clean install without the official instalation disc? Could i write my own version? DOes window have a download pack like that?

Thanks for any and all help.

    Hello and welcome roobosh :)

You cannot do a clean install if you dont have the windows installation disk. But if you have the system/factory restore disk of OEM manufacturer, you can perform a factory restore, which is as good as a clean install; it will bring your computer back to the state when you purchased it.

       Information
We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

I wonder if the vendor from whom the machine is purchased tells the prospective buyer that the first thing that he/she should do after the first boot is to make OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks. Quite a few purchaser haven't a clue about this when they purchase the machine and over 75% (my guess) remain clueless about it for ever after having purchased it.

I haven't done this, but I believe that you could could acquire a copy of a Windows 7 installation disk. Convert it to a generic installer by removal of the type ID (Ei.cfg Removal Utility Lets You Use Any Product Key With Your Windows 7 Disc). Use the OEM license key from the sticker on the PC. This isn't a recipe for the process, but it should enable you to find the details.

If you don't have access to a copy of a Win7 installation DVD, there are legitimate download of the .iso files for the available for download. It may still be considered unacceptable to post links, but a little searching will discover them (mydigitallife).

There's some labor involved in this, but I suggest it as an alternative to buying a redundant Win7 license.
