I will try the boot partition that was suggested earlier. Maybe I can get it to boot even though nothing else has been booting lately.

Did you wipe the HD first before trying booted install from Recovery Disks as I've now suggested several times.

Did you try booting the DVD in another computer to see if it will boot?

Reset the BIOS to defaults using one of these methods: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup look for SATA controller, set to AHCI first to try install.

What has Acer told you about no Product Key on the COA sticker?

There are multiple steps which have been suggested with no reply. Please go back and work through them all or ask back how to do so.

Okay I will try this again. For some reason my responses are not going through.

I responded to this thread about 3 days ago and it showed up then but for some reason now its gone. I responded to both Gregrocker and Jacee. I don't want ya'll to think I've just ignored you for all this time. Maybe I used the quote function incorrectly.

To Gregrocker: I'm sorry. I thought i had responded to you earlier. The reason why I haven't wiped the hard drive is because the link to those instructions said you have to boot to diskpart and the instructions for booting to diskpart said you have to boot from your dvd drive and I haven't been able to do that. At least that is how I read it. Maybe there's another way.

I did do the BIOS reset but it didn't change anything and the SATA mode is set to AHCI. And I will contact Acer about the COA sticker. I've been out of town and haven't done that yet. Thank you for your help.

To Jacee: Thanks for your reply. Here are my stats. Acer aspire 7741z

We had about 18 hours wiped out when the Forum's server crashed.

I had replied to use free Partition Wizard bootable CD which will autostart without having to do anything to boot it, click on the HD then from Disk tab Wipe it using Quick.

This should likewise force the Win7 installer to autostart.

    Quick Update

    Hi,
Just a quick update on my situation. I tried the Bootable Disk but still nothing happened. I tried to let it run on its own and I hit F12 once to see if that would help. I did hear the CD-Rom drive working but I still get the same error message. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried has worked. As this problem has been going on for quite a while, I went ahead and bought another laptop as I have a business to run and was unable to do so without my laptop working.

I thank everyone for their patience and for trying to help me with this issue. But I don't believe this can be fixed by me. If I am ever rolling in some dough, I might pay to get it fixed to have a back up laptop but for now, its worthless.

Anyway, thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

    OK,

    1. Do you have your internal dvd set to boot 1st on the boot page in your bios ?
    2. Are you using your Acer recovery discs ?
    3. Do you get the message to press any key to boot from dvd ?

I see you`ve given up, disreguard my post.
