I put a DVD RW drive in the PC. I am not trying to boot via USB.

I do not think you can boot via USB. If only that were an option.

What I am saying - there are some indications that this error is caused by a failure to read data from the DVD - and that failure may or may not be due to the DVD itself, but could be a fault generated by the drive mechanism. At this, point, we cannot tell.

If you have another DVD drive, connect it - try to install.

If you do not have another DVD drive, burn a new disc, on the slowest speed, and try to install from it.

Ok, I will try another drive. I know that the disk is good because I have used it previously and it worked fine.

    Ok,
I have tired multiple drives, and multiple install disks, and I get BSOD every time. Anyone have any suggestions? I have seen on other forums that people get W7 to install on 280's with the exact hardware with no problems. Anyone know?

If it happens on multiple drives, and install disks it has to be something in hardware. Probably something in BIOS. can you boot into bios and check the following. legacy floppy support (should be off), everthing should be default. If possible download the newest BIOS upgrade.

    Try to install again\

    \Hope this helps

Nwebb, did you get 7 to work? I ask because one of my computer is a Dell Gx280 as well, and I was considering installing 7 on it. If you could tell me how it is working out, I would appreciate that.

Thanks for the update. I actually installed a new graphics card on the gx-280, so I'm hoping aeros won't be a problem. However, how is the speed of the system. Same as in XP or slower?
