    Dual boot windows 7

    Hi
I just download windows 8 consumer preview and am having problems. Can I partition
my drive and install windows 7 on the partition because I can't back out of the
consumer 8 preview? Thanks for any help.

Hello Easypace, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yes, you should normally be able to, but could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management (diskmgt.msc) window showing all of your HDD's layout just to be sure. :)

    Thanks for your reply

I am having a terrible time navigating "8 consumer preview." So far it is a piece of
junk. I can't even bring up my disk drive to to view it. I will keep trying. This is why I
need to revert to back to windows 7. Thanks for your reply.

I hear you. You can open the charms bar in Windows 8 and click on Search for the search box like the search box in the Windows 7 Start Menu. :)

You should have tried it on another hard drive. And I agree with you it`s garbage. Just reinstall 7.

Have a look at Brink's excellent tutorial: Dual Boot Installation - Windows 8 and Windows 7 or Vista - Windows 8 Forums

Can I reinstall windows 7 after I had already loaded Windows 8 preview on a new
    partition?

The charms bar doesn't even work. I can even see the information for my C drive.
    Very frustrating.

When you reinstall Windows 7 you should be able to delete the Windows 8 partition, and then create a new one for 7.

Of course you can , as mentioned when you get to the partition page of the install, format the partition ( click drive options ) where you installed w8 and pick that partition to install w7. Click next and the process will begin. Don`t choose any other partitions or delete any other partitions you have.
Can you post a shot of disk management before you start ?
