Diskpart failing to format drive(s)

I am new to the forum but have found lots of very valuable information prior to registering. I have an HP xw8600 on which I am trying to install and format raid 0. My boot drive and OS use the on board controller. This raid is on a 3rd party card (3 Ware 9550SXU-12). I am using this board for its supposed speed over my on board LSI controller, which is capable of raid with only 2 ports. I have used the Bios level utility from 3 Ware to set up the array of 2 Samsung 103F3 1 TB drives in raid 0. The 3 Ware utility says these are now 'exportable' meaning available to Win for formatting.
I go to Diskpart, making sure I am an administrator, and can view, select and partition the drives. When I go to format however I get and error message that the format has failed. I checked the system event log and it says:

ChipStatus=16807000 (PCI parity error)

The event log mentions that it was the 3 Ware that generated it. The drivers for this board are loaded and under device manager it functions normally. I have seen some posts that say this might be a driver error. I have the latest 64 bit driver for this board. Thanks for taking a look at this. Why do you wish to use dated RAID technology with Win7? It is not even Redundant as you lose everything if you lose one HD.

Better to install to one HD then add the other after install to use for data and built-in backup imaging which is the modern way to redundancy, unless you want a mirror.

thanks for replying. I am using a raid as I edit HD video. One drive won't push the pixels enough. My boardset has a speedometer that shows what file size and frame rate I can push through. With Raid 0 and an Addonics PCIx board that uses the Silicon Imaging chipset I can get 150 Mb/s with two 7200 barracudas. Not good enough for 1080i at 59.94 fps. Can do 720P but not 1080. So I am going to the 3 ware board and the Samsung F3s in hopes of editing 1080 or even larger.

Understood, the one good excuse for using RAID is always editing large video.

You can try free Partition Wizard bootable CD which is the tool that works best with Win7 for managing, resizing, creating, converting, wiping and anything else needed for HD's that Disk Management can't do but is equally safe.
