    F8 button not working for XP when Duol booting with 7

    if we duol boot 7 with xp , f8 option works fine for 7 , but it will not even give you the f8 option to xp advanced option,
    i have tried 100s times not working, i know there are other options to get to xp safe mode for example, by Run msconfig etc , and another way is to hold power button when starting windows next time it will ask you for advaced boot options ,
    but i just wanna know is it possible to bring this advaced option ,i mean press f8 button after selecting xp to go for advanced boot option when duel booting with 7 thanks in advance.

    Here is C:\boot.ini from winxp

    Code:
    ;
    ;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
    ;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
    ;
    [boot loader]

    Pressing F8 should take you to the boot menu, select your boot device, press enter and immediately F8 again, you should now be where you want tot be.

    in bootmenu where win7, win8 and Earlier Version of Windows is listed:
    1. select Earlier Version of Windows
    2. press enter. This starts ntldr.exe the boot manager of winxp. It's just the same as starting winxp on a machine with only winxp
    3. tap F8 very quickly
    Does that work?

    Thank you so much you are totally right
    We should tap F8 immediately after pressing enter , Previously i was taping F8 before presing enter obviously that's why it wouldn't bring up the advanced options , i didn't see that side of the picture ,but thanks to you i do now.

    I appreciate your help , thank you so much

    win7 and win8 do use bootmgr.exe and bcd bootmenu. Select win7 or win8 and tap f8 .. works.

    But winxp uses ntldr.exe which understands f8 as well. but you first have to run ntldr.exe so select earlier version of windows and press enter.

    See it as a jump to the winxp bootloader. Clear?
