Toshiba Laptop, All Windows I Install return boot\bcd error

that is my choices for sata drive.. i can run it in compatibility mode, or not. thats it. thats the complete answer

I thought you had an AHCI choice, which means there should also be an IDE one somewhere. Is this elsewhere in BIOS?

well the compatibility mode sets it to IDE. Standard mode sets it to AHCI

ya i did that. i did it ALL! if you read all 6 pages of this thread you'd see..

Download WD DataLifeguard HD Diagnostic burn to CD using an Image Burner like Windows Image Burner or ImgBurn, boot and run full scan.

Diskpart Clean command wipes the HD boot sector of possibly conflicting or corrupt code. It is one of the most reliable troubleshooting steps for failed installs and of course also removes the partitions and clears the partition table. There is no harm that can come of it. Disk wear is only really exacerbated by using the unneeded Clean All command to write zeros and is used to make data irretrievable by most methods.

Kinda Fixed.. I Guess.. I can get to my desktop every time.. but if i make a change that requires rebooting, or if i reboot for ANY reason, i get that boot\bcd error.. UNLESS after comp shuts down, i unplug the plug and hold power button for like 10 seconds. then when i turn comp on it boots straight to desktop no problem.. hmmm
