Boot back into Partition Wizard, select the C drive and click on Repair MBR in the list on the left. Apply the change then boot back into Windows to see if that has cured the problem.

Boot back into PW CD, click on HD to highlight it, then from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply.

If this fails boot into Win7 DVD or System Repair Disk, access System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

If this fails, boot into PW CD, rightclick on Win7 partition to Modify>Set to Active, click OK. Then again choose Rebuild MBR, Apply both steps. If this fails to start Win7 then boot into DVD/Repair CD to run Startup Repairs again.

If this fails, boot into PW CD, rightclick on C to Check File System, OK. Apply.

At any point you can copy out your files using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or Paragon rescue disk to recover data.

Try putting Win7 DVD in DVD drive, accessing Task Manager, on Applications tab select New Task, type Explorer.exe, in Explorer window select DVD drive and run Setup to attempt a Repair Install .

As a last resort: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I cannot remember this happening before using PW CD. You did use the CD?

I tried starting in safe mode, and the same problem happens. Apparently my profile got damaged.

Did you use the PW Boot CD? I've never seen it fail.

I gave you the next steps to follow. If you can get Task Manager>Applications>New Task>Explorer.exe to run DVD you might be able to run a Repair Install.

But I'd rely on Startup Repair first. It should automate System Restore. If not try it manually from System Recovery Options

I should have had you backup an image of your OS first, but PW CD has never failed so it was overlooked.

I have to step out for an hour or two but will check back asap.

    oh well

I did make and use a PW disk. In PW I notice it does not have letters for any of the partitions.

I went through those most recent steps, and had no luck.

I'm going to do a new installation now. There should still be time for me to get it all done today.

I really appreciate the help everyone, especially Greg provided to me. Sevenforums rocks.

As Greg says, it's the first time PW seems not to have done the job.

I hope the reinstall goes well, but please post back if you need further help.

    Mike -

Please let us know how it goes.

This is discouraging since we've helped with similar operations using PW CD countless times without fail.

I apologize for not specifying to save a Win7 backup image, but it seemed unnecessary after so many years' success with PW CD. No longer.
