Windows 7 Professional Installation


I installed windows 7 professional oem version in my desktop. Everything was fine. Then i removed the harddrive and used in another computer. The computer wont boot. It hangs at windows logo screen. I updated bios too but still the same problem. Please help

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit

OEM licenses are tied to the motherboard of the computer on which they are first installed. You are trying to put it into an entirely new PC.

A BIOS update has nothing to do with it.

I doubt if you will have much success if you have only one license.

It won't boot because the hardware is too different.

There are programs which will fix that for you - the best is Paragon P2P adjust - it is all automatic and takes about 2 seconds.

After that - it will boot fine.

However, it will ask for a windows product key at some stage - you need a product key that allows you to move it to a different machine ( i.e . a retail key )

Si is it still possible to get Paragon Adaptive Restore CD download anywhere? I have the disk and use it regularly to move Win7 to new hardware, but would like to have a link for others.

This normally requires a new license to reactivate since OEM version is tied to the mobo upon install.

In some cases with a good excuse MS Phone activation will allow you to reactivate with a different mobo. Why are you changing the mobo?
