    Windows 7 installation problem

    first of all this is the screen i get if i booted my pc from any windows 7 dvd or even vista dvd

    sorry for bad quality (by mobile ) as u see background colors are interrupted and also no mouse no keyboard to continue .... now i will tell the story from the beginning

    1) first ... my pc was running win 7 alongside with linux ubuntu 11.04 dual boot through grub boot loader of ubuntu

    2) i wrongly formatted a small partition related to the grub loader of ubuntu that gave an error while booting

    3) searching for a solution i used those two commands to fix grub boot loader through ubuntu live cd

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair

    4) i thought the problem was fixed my old ubuntu started up fine ... but when i tried to boot win 7 which its entry in the grub loader was also back .. i got an error with a fix screen ... which was not fixing any thing .

    5) then hoping to regain win 7 .. tried fixing through win 7 dvd but in vain ... then i formatted the partition of win 7 and also that of ubuntu thinking they were the problem
    booting from win 7 dvd ... giving me the screen in pic above with no mouse or keyboard respond

    6)i then tried many win 7 dvd ..also the same .. tried my old vista dvd giving the same

    7) after that i installed my old old xp which surprisely installed and worked... then installed ubuntu again which also worked

    8) in a second try ... i tried installing 7 through xp by a virtual dvd .. the installation run perfect till it restarted it gave me an error which i don't remember now

    9) now with xp & ubuntu ... with that error booting any 7 dvd

    PLEASE HELP

    Wipe the HD of GRUB corruption using Diskpart Clean Command from DVD command Line DISKPART At PC Startup

    Boot the DVD to clean reinstall.

    On old hardware you can often get poor resolution as shown in Boot mode. This does not mean it won't install, as it will depend upon the Display driver available during install or whether the default Standard VGA will render the OS adequately once installed.

    What Greg is asking you to do is to wipe the hard drive using diskpart, how to get into diskpart at start up, and then booting into your Windows DVD for a clean install of Windows.

    Just click on each blue link he's given you for tutorials on how to achieve what he's asked you to do.

    Why wouldn't you format the complete physical disk? As apposed to formatting a separate partition on a multiple partitioned physical disk?

    If you have backups of your files and install media for your programs, and or backups of downloaded programs, with there registration/activation codes that is the only way to do a real, complete, clean install of any system. That is unless you have used a Imaging program to create a BASE image of your drive so you can go back to a clean fresh install of OS and programs. And then you would format the entire drive during the Re-Imaging of the drive.

    i don't have any backups for my large frequently changing files which are very important 45 GB program files including ISOs Offices others & 45 GB for games & another 45 GB for my medical study files .
    i don't use imaging in installing systems ... telling you i change the system may be every month or week :) from linux to windows ( i like trying everything )
    i have 2 partitions for systems one 25 gb for 7 and 10 gb for xp or linux ..... i usually format the selected partition of the system before installing the new one on a clean formatted partition .
    thats it

    i can't find any part of the tutorial taking about partitions ... it only formats a flash drive ... select only the full disk to clean or clean all
    also i can't enter command prompt from 7 dvd as no keyboard or mouse is working as the screen freezes on the first step which is in pic above ... finding no solution except unplug the electricity cable . i can't also make the repair cd as i am on a xp system .

    Ok but I suggest you try using a Virtual Machine program for other OS's and stick to one main OS as the host. That way you can have Win 98, XP, Vista, or another copy of Win 7 and many flavors of Linux and maybe even the Proprietary (White fruit) version of Unix/BSD installed all at the same time and never have to Re-boot the system to use any of them.

    The whole idea of a Dual boot system is so 90s. That is why VM software was created along with Intel Virtualization, to have multiple OSs installed and never have to leave your main OS to use any of the others.And to top it off you don't have to deal with Boot Loaders and how they can screw up all installed OSs at any given time.

    Just Sayin.

    Good Luck.
