If you're going to wipe your drive and fresh install I would also recommend backing up your windows activation key too.
There is a programme called Advanced Tokens Manager. It will save your activation, just copy it to a thumb drive.
You still need to enter the product key on your pc case when reinstalling but it will help any avoid any problems when you need to reactivate it.

Last year you advised me to get rid of my HP factory OS on my desktop and laptop.
Everything worked great. Thank you.
Now my laptop has slowed to a snails pace so thought would reload.
Question. I have the OS disc I burned for the load last year so, should I just reload it even thought it most likely does not contain very may upgrades OR so you have a location you can recommend for me to get a newer clean copy?
I use: Windows 7, Home Premium, 64 bit for both systems.

I think 58997.iso is still the latest legit downloadable iso for Win 7 64 bit Home Premium. It will have Service Pack 1, but it's a couple of years old and you'll still have to get updates from Windows Update after you do the install.
If that's what you used to make your burn last year, there wouldn't be any point in doing another.
If you don't know what iso you used for the burn last year, then go ahead and download it and burn again.
But it's not typical for a computer to slow to a "snails pace" in a year's time. That's preventable, so something else is going on. You shouldn't have to reinstall Windows to maintain performance unless you've got bad habits and have ignored proper maintenance. Plenty of people have had the same Windows 7 install for 4 plus years without slowing down.
If you have hardware issues, a clean install wouldn't solve anything.
This time be sure to complete all the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which end with creating a backup image so that you never have to do the reinstall again - just reimage from the boot disk the stored image to the HD in 20 minutes.
Also if you use only the tools and methods in the tutorial then it should not slow down. Have you run the suggested scans, cleaner and defrag (unless it's an SSD)? Are you monitoring startups to assure a Clean Boot, and browser Add-Ons to remove spyware?
