    What do you mean by "Expanding it"? sorry, i'm not that computer litterate as you can probably tell!

    Look here ISO - Disk Image File : Extract to the Desktop
    Instead of expanding to the desktop, expand it into the USB, assuming the USB is large enough to accommodate both the image and the expanded files.

    Then you will indeed need to try installing from a DVD.

    Where did you get the Image?

    ok, i'll get a DVD tomorrow and see how things pan out. I got the image from a friend who previously used it on all of his computers and it worked, he also used usb-hdd.

    You will likely have activation problems unless you have your own valid Product Key.

    yeah i've got my own valid product key that i haven't used before, i lost my win7 disc a while back so i'm just using this ISO from a friend to see if it would work.

    Does the Product key match the installation image? Meaning, is the Product Key for the same exact product as the image.
    A key for OEM x64 Pro wont work on a retail x86 ultimate.

    Yeah the key matches the installation image, all of this is fine, like i said in the 1st thing i put, it's the errors im having a problem with

    okay, best you try a DVD first. If you don't have an OS installed to give you errors, chances are, it's the media.
