Need to Reinstall Windows 7 - cannot boot

About a month ago I had to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium because it had the win64/sirefef virus. Security essentials would not work and neither would the windows firewall, etc.

I have the virus again somehow, but this time when I try to boot it into safe mode and do a system restore or back up my files I can't - it says windows restore won't work and there is a critical error and will restart in 1 minute (this happened last time as well except not in safe mode and I was able to do the restore - but the critical error was occurring in regular mode).

How do I backup my files (I have new files since the last time) and reinstall without the discs?

Thank you so much - info. is needed ASAP!

Forgot to mention it's a Sony Vaio.

Boot into safe mode, and use your DVD burner to copy the files you want to save onto DVD. Or, use a flash drive and copy the files that way.

I don't understand what you mean by reinstalling without the discs.

You need to fill out your system specs completely. Sony makes a lot of Vaio computers.

When I boot it into safe mode it just restarts after 1 minute saying there's a critical error.

If you really need those files right now, then I would remove the drive and temporarily install it into another computer (running an updated anti-virus application - under no circumstances do this unless the A/V is installed and updated!) so you can copy the files you need to save.

    Fill out your system specs.

Oh, and don't visit/share/download whatever it was that got you infected in the first place.

This is a nasty virus, and I don't know if Windows Defender offline will find and eradicate it, but you should try that anyway. Start here:

You can also boot the Win7 installer to Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console.

Then wipe the HD using Diskpart Clean Command from installer Command line and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - steps are the same for retail.

Or boot up a Linux LiveCD, like Ubuntu and pull your files that way. Fast and easy.
