    Win7 Will not install USB/DVD??

Hey guys I have a Hp pavillion dv4 1225dx this laptop has been great for me for quite a few years. I think it might have taken a crap on me though. I was using the laptop and everything was great. shut the laptop off and the next day went to turn it on, it boots up and runs but black screen! I connect external monitor and can see everything. That was how I was using the laptop for about a month. then one day the laptop just shut down on its own and when It booted up with out the monitor connected I could see on the screen it was booting but it went to windows startup repair. So now I have my screen back but it boots to repair and cant automatically repair. So I tried 20x to boot a fresh clean install of win7 and just gets stuck at expanding windows files. I tried the new microsoft tool to install iso image on usb and does the same thing hangs at expanding files. I have no clue what to do now! any help would be nice!

You can troubleshoot the old install or copy out your files using Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

If you want to troubleshoot the install failure, first reset BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI, HD first to boot. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.

Download the latest installer ISO with SP1, burn to DVD or write to stick with tool provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Boot the installer by tapping the ESC key at boot, at first screen press Shift + F10 to open Command box, run Diskpart Clean Command.

Close Command box, click Install Now, during Custom Install at Drive Selection screen just click Next to let installer create/format install partition: Clean Install Windows 7.

Report back what happens, including any error messages verbatim.

If these steps fail, next test your RAM and HD as given in Troubleshooting tutorial posted first.

More then likely the hard drive has failed. Try replacing the hard drive and then try the install.

So your system did work with external display connected. Laptop screen did nothing,,,, really nothing no bios at all?
But you saw some system repair actions you say later... so it does display. Confused
