    1103 is the update i have installed. The only thing I wasnt sure of is wether or not I should have jumped sequencially or first to newest version (the latter is what i did)

    ok so verdict is in if i install on my caviar black with nothing else hooked up to my computer other than keyboard and mouse

    Windows could not configure one or more system component. Tom install wondows, restart the computer and then restart the installation (done twice or three times now)

    Direction (clear cmos)???

    Yes, clear CMOS next.

    Do you have confidence in the installer? It wouldn't hurt to download the latest and burn to DVD, then write to flash stick so you eliminate that as possibility.

    Download a new ISO and try using it to install.

    As part of clearing CMOS, try both AHCI mode and IDE mode which also sometimes solves this error.

    But at what step does error appear? Clean Install Windows 7

    it usually gets to step 9 or 10 it never gets to me entering the product key (it also needs to install the network ethernet so it cant connect untill i install them)

    Test the HD using HD maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by Disk Check run from installer's Command Line.

    Test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 3-6 passes or overnight. Remove all but 2gb to try install. Swap sticks, look for debris in RAM slots.

    Will try and do tomorrow thanks for you help thus far. Its 1am here so ill let you guys know of my findings. This is all new equipment but im hoping seriously it isnt the problem. Ill start with factory reseting the bios to original (supposed to work but thus far has done nothing. (too tired prol not doing right)

    Good idea to get some sleep so you'll be fresh resetting the BIOS. See you tomorrow.
