Need help transferring OS to ssd (read the guide)

    Hi,

I was reading the guide posted here: SSD - Install and Transfer the Operating System .

But I gave up on the "geeky" method and I think I am just going to use the paragon program. The thing is, I am already halfway through the setup. I initialized, aligned, and even moved the 100 MB partition with EasyBCD.

So my question is, do I need to revert these changes before I use Paragon?

    Thanks!

Yes, I suggest to start with a 'clean' SSD when you use the Paragon program. But what are your problems with the geeky way.

It might have been easier if you had transferred the bootmgr to the C partition. Then you would not have to wrestle with the 100MB partition - you could just forget about it. Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

How exactly do I go about reverting the changes that I made?

I got confused with transferring the image using Macrium. I saw the tutorial on Macrium...but I guess I am not that familiar with this type of stuff.

Run these commands in command prompt for cleaning the SSD:

    Diskpart
    List disk
Select disk n (where n is the number that was given for your SSD in List disk)
    Clean
    Exit

An even better way would be to run a Secure Erase with Parted Magic. But that will put you on a steep learning curve. Read the article anyhow. Maybe it's a piece of cake for you. How to securely erase an SSD drive | How To - CNET

But if you want, I am here to walk you thru the 'geeky way' step by step.
