some updates replace certain system files with exactly the same file just to test for bugs in the updating system,as far as i can tell.I think that's probably what is meant by test updates.

I muck about with alot of software, and it would be unusual if i dont re-install within a week due to some kind of problem.

Every time i do a system restore, most of my software disappears or stops working(and no,it isn't because i've restored to before it was installed)...Happens every time,so i just do fresh install now,and have all my software etc. in a way so i can put back on quickly(the software i know that works properly anyway, like my firefox/thunderbird profiles and reg entries for activating my software)

New Installs for Windows 7
I am in my bitch mode for an OLD man. As far as I can tell this applies to any reinstall of Windows 7 either 32 or 64 bit. The install itself seems to go smoothly. IT is the after install (which I guess you would call set up). It has been taking forever to get all the updates needed...
