    Indeed, 7.5A on 2kV will do damage, even if for 1ns. That is the punch ESD can carry.
    Rhombus, just be glad you bought it from Newegg...

    I thought about it, but as you said you have a working SATA DVD I do beleive it is the HDD, not the Mobo.
    Do you have a friend you could ask to plug your HDD just to test it? You don't need to do anything, just connect it and go the the BIOS to see if it is recognized. If not, it is surely the HDD. But it does look like it, given the blank setting that followed it

    i do have friends with computers, but i dont think any of them would enjoy me messing with the innards of their computers :P

    i already got it packaged up to send it back, so w/e. haha.

    btw, thanks for the help guys, you are a lot better than the people at tomshardware.
