    Several Mysteries Help!

I have just transferred all my files to my new Windows 7 computer from my old Vista computer. With help from some of you, I seem to have everything transferred across. Now, I have some questions about a couple of things.

First, in Windows Live Mail. I have set up my wife's and my gmail accounts. We are receiving and sending emails without problems, except:
    1. When I send an email, nothing ever appears in the Sent folder. Likewise, when I delete an email, nothing appears in the Deleted folder. They just always remain empty. What is happening?
    2. When I tried to forward an email to my office computer, it did not go through. Yet when I sent myself a newly created email, it did. Why?
    3. When I tried to send an email with a file attachment (a photo) the email did not go out. Likewise, when I selected photos in Picasa and tried to send them via email from Picasa, they did not go out. What am I doing wrong?
    4. Finally, now, everytime I open Windows Live Mail, to check my emails, I get an error-message box telling me that the emails with attachments and the forwarded email did not go out. How do I cancel these emails so I did not get this error message for the rest of my life?

Second, I uploaded several photos and one video clip from my digital camera. I sent the photos to my Pictures folder and the video clip to my Video folder. I can see the photos in their folder; but, I cannot find the video clip. I thought I might not have uploaded it properly; so, I typed in the date of the upload in Search Programs and Files. Lo and behold, I find the video clip, and can play it, but I am not saavy enough to be able to tell where the file resides. So, I decided to copy the file and try to paste it into my Video folder. I can't. I get a message saying the it is already there. But, I can't see it there! Also, when I click on the Windows Media Player icon at the bottom of my desk top, I get a listing of all my other video clips I transferred from my old computer; but, I again, don't see the new one I uploaded from my camera. Where the heck is it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Gan,

First, I set my accounts (Gmail & AOL) to allow access using POP, made a note of the settings and added them manually to Windows Live Mail, otherwise it will try to use IMAP which I don't use, (I don't have any Apps that require it). Gmail messages get archived, AOL stays unread when accessed by POP.

All my contacts are in my Hotmail Account. I use it to sign-in to WLM. Once signed-in, I add the accounts I use and delete the Hotmail Account.

I realize this has not answered you post, but if you start of my way it will work, (with a little help)

To find the location of a file, rightclick it and select Open File Location, or Properties to look at the file path.

Once it opens its file location, you can drag it to the correct folder in the left-hand Explorer bar. Always make sure you hold onto the file until explorer stops expanding to show you all the sub-folders, then release the left click to drop it into the folder it confirms is target.

In the future I would not use Easy Transfer but instead drag your active User folders to external for storage and then into new install. Get in the habit of sorting everything into the User folders: Documents, Pictures, Music, Favorites, Videos, Desktop, Downloads. This is how you get full control over your files. To find a missing files, type part of its name into Start Search box, rightclick result to Open File Location.
