    Installing Oracle 10 developer

I have tried several times to install the Oracle 10g developer and each time I get errors that say the registry name for some files is > 1024 characters long. I pick to ignore, but when the install is done it does not install all the programs. I really just need forms and reports. Forms seems to work, but the program for reports never gets installed. Can anyone help me with this?

Are you running installer as Administrator?

What I do in a case like this is google the verbatim error text to see how others have solved it .

It's a major program so also likely has tech support that knows the error.

I am running as admin, plus I'm running as compatible with XP service pack 2. I don't even know if that is right. I saw that on instructions for doing the install from another thread. I've tried several different options. All of them throw the error that the environment path is too long.

So what does google return for the verbatim error? If you'd posted it verbatim I would have already skimmed the results and found out what's been done about it before.

I figured it out. I had to remove some junk from my path variable, then it installed fine.
