slip stream MS window8 usb 3.0 driver into window 7 install CD

this could be somewhat complicated and should be either in driver section, or installation section or could be on both windows 7 and 8 forum.

here goes.. recently im into SSDs and usb 3.0 so i got myself a usb 3.0 flash drive, made it bootable with window 7 files on it and then install window 7 from flashdrive to my ssd which takes about 3 mins, very fast.

since window 7 natively does not support usb 3.0, i had to install usb3 drivers during installation screen which is a hassle because i have 4 laptops, which all have usb 3.0 ports, but each laptop uses different usb 3.0 drivers and thats where my problem is.

i could slipstream usb 3 driver into win7 install disc, then copy the disc files onto my flashdrive but then i would need 4 seperate flashdrives, or 4 times amount of files. then i thought about windows 8 which ive tried, it automatically detects usb 3.0 during installation screen just fine and of course theres no way it would know what drivers i am using, so obviously microsoft has a *general* usb3.0 driver they use themselves for windows 8.

if i can find that usb 3.0 drivers for windows 8, i should be able to slipstream into the window7 install cd, then of course copy it onto my flashdrive so i no longer have to install different usb 3.0 drivers everytime, correct?

    plz help me out.. lol

Chances are Win8 has most of the USB 3.0 drivers so that yours is able to be installed. Absent this I would simply get the driver from optional Windows Updates which is how the installer drivers are updated and missing drivers supplied shortly after Win7 install.

Short of that keep the USB 3. driver on stick to install in Device Manager.

If you want to try to slipstream the Win8 USB 3 driver into your 7 installer using 7Lite to see if it will work, then that might be a fun project but hardly necessary.

so how do i find the usb 3.0 driver for windows 8
it just doesnt look like it has all kinds of drivers, probably just uses one universal driver.

I'd wait to see if Win8 installer provides the driver. If not then wait until all Updates are installed as it may come in on optional Windows Updates.

Failing this, search for the driver on the Device's Support Downloads webpage. If necessary trace using Hardware Identification.

Unless you have a special USB card, it is normally a part of the chipset.

If you have 4 laptops, then you have 4 different sets of unique laptop drivers that should be installed, correct? Since you are already doing that, it shouldn't be too much trouble to install one more.

However, you can easily slipstream all of the USB 3.0 drivers you have into Windows 7 by using a tool like nLite. Just follow whatever instructions are available for whichever program you use to do the slipstreaming, then you shouldn't have any problems with any of your laptops during installation. Download all of the drivers, extract them, and slipstream them. There may be additional steps required, so make sure to visit the support forums for nLite (or whatever you end up using) and check the FAQs so you don't have any problems during the slipstream process.

actually it is because i have many laptops i want to get this done, and it would only means i would purchase more laptop in the future and it would not make sense slipstream every possible usb 3 driver into instalation dvd instead of just one possible window8 usb 3.0 driver.

if say 10 computers all uses different usb 3 drivers, then i have got to slipstream 10 different drivers in? thats crazy.. any ideas?

sorry i missed this post. very logical i should do just that. with window 8 beta out several months now and i have tried it, it does detect my usb 3 devices on the usb 3 port, that is to say the driver is probably in the installation dvd already. i will look into it and hopefully find something out.

ps. i really would hate to move to windows 8, that OS just doesnt seem right.
