BOOTMGR is Missing
I have looked everywhere online for a solution to this problem and can not figure out to fix it. Please read the entire post before replying, because everytime I see my problem posted on other sites, people give answers that if they had read the whole post, they would know is impossible.
Here we go.
I recently built a new computer. I decided to use my old hard drive that was running Windows XP, since it was a good drive, but I was going to format it, and put Windows 7 on instead.
Step 1- I built computer
Step 2 - I completely formatted the drive via "format c:" in command prompt. At this point, there is no OS, or anything on the disk.
Step 3 - Set BIOS to boot from CD/DVD
Step 4 - Insert Windows 7 disc into drive
Step 5 - Restart computer
Now this is where I have my issues. In BIOS I have it set to boot from CD/DVD first, and do not have boot to hard drive selected at all.
The computer will load, flash the mobo's splash screen, then I get "Booting from CD/DVD: _"
After a few seconds there it tells me "BOOTMGR is missing, Press ctlr+alt+del to restart"
I restart, and no matter what I do, I have the same error.
Now please, do not tell me to put in the windows 7 disc, boot to it, select keyboard reason etc... I can not get to any windows screen, or get the CD to boot, period.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue?
