W7 64 Ultimate install over existing setup - CODES 37 Video problem

Hello all and thank you in advance.
Sad I only come here looking for answers but I hope you can provide :)

OK, a few days ago I had video card problems. On device manager a little yellow exclamation mark appeared against my video card,
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 512M PCIe Video Card

Seems a code 37 is a problem? I get vga out and that's about it. No fancy stuff, lucky I suppose.

Tried near everything but seems the PC can't see the card(s)?

I googled as you do and consensus was get a new video card.

I bought a Gainward 460 SE and swapped over... Still have the little yellow exclamation mark?

Still tried all over the last days and proved the new card work in another PC build OK.

Seems I have to reinstall W7 and I am reasonably happy to jump that way.

My 'C' drive is an SSD so my question is...... can I just insert my legit install CD/DVD and install on the same SSD with out problems?

Yes I expect to back up all beforehand.

Have you installed the drives from the manufactures website?

Make sure you backup drivers/files and boot from CD and format the SSD and install.

Yes, tried that a few times Like I said the video card works fine in another PC so seems like original card was OK

Anyway I got a reasonable card to run with.

Yes, hopefully I have thought of everything here, but format before install is one I would have forgotten to do so TY :)

SO it should just be a matter of inserting the install CD/DVD and getting a new install?
I have a couple of days off work so, fingers crossed it happens.
Any other advice muchly appreciated before I jump tomorow.

    Well blow me away.

    I seemed to have massive
problems and was about to order a new SSD & sata HDD and walk down the road to pick them up, rebuild my rig all because my original video card apparently failed, had that the little yellow exclamation mark in device manager & code 37?

I recalled an old magazine I had here somewhere (7: The Ultimate Guide 2010) with tips & tricks to 'common problems'.

Well a little light reading and using a little free program called FixWin v 1.2.exe
(files in zip dated 3/2010) and a reboot or two and all is near back to where it was.

Strange one that? Still don't know the cause (my orig card is probably still good)
Just got aero themes back and can play some games to I suspect.
