Reinstallation using recovery disks on toshiba

    Hi,

I have a toshiba satellite L740 laptop. I have created the recovery disks from recovery media creator. I am trying to reinstall windows 7 using these disks but i'm not knowing how to do that. I am not able to enter the bios settings on start up. Should i have the original windows 7 installation cd to reinstall windows or can i use the recovery disks? I was not given any windows installation cd when i bought this laptop. What do i do now?

Hello sowmya, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look at the method out-lined below first and be sure to post back with how it sorts out.

       Note

Be advised: this will over-write any data on the PC so be sure to copy-out your data before you start this.

Start with the PC in an OFF state.
    1) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, hit the power button once to switch on the PC.

    2) When the machine starts beeping; release the 0 key.

    3) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

    4) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.

    5) Select Recover to out-of-box state, click Next again.

    6) Click Next to Start recovery.

    4) Now just follow the prompts to finish the process.

Are these recovery disks from toshiba? If so, you should be able to just pop them in and run them.

Why can't you access the bios? What happens when you first turn on the computer? You should be given the option to hit something like F2 or F11 or F12 to enter Setup.

    Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility

If you have disks but didnt number them when made you'll need to try each to see which boots: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

If all fails you can either order disks from Toshiba or get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - everything you need is in the link.

you dont have to really use the disc if you have bought your laptop after year 2010 use the image partition on your HDD to do system recovery

Make sure NB is turned OFF then before you turn it on hold down the "0" (zero) the one at the top of the letter "P"

Then turn it on let go as soon as you hear a beeping sound or you see windows loading files then you should see a big warning sing then just

choose the following options: Toshiba Recovery Wizard, Recover from Factory Default Software, Recover from Out-of-Box State.
the NB will configure by itself and may restart several times.
