I cannot install Windows 7 64 bit on my new system?

Hello! I just built a new computer and when I went to install Windows 7 64 bit, it gave me some kind of error saying it was not compatible or something, so I was forced to go with 32 bit. I don't remember exactly what the error said (stupid me, I know I should have taken note of it), but I know it said something about not being compatible?
    Here is my new build:

    Asus M5A97 Evo Motherboard
AMD FX 4100 Quad Core Processor 3.6 GHz
    8.0 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550ti 1024MB Video Card

    Yada, yada, yada.....
My new computer is decent, so I'm just wondering why it wouldn't accept Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit?

Remove all but 2GB of ram and try the install. Often fixes the problem.

Put back the rest of the memory once the install completes.

It's a copy of my last computer's retail disk. Does that have something to do with it? If so, that's weird because my friend used the same disk for his new build and he was able to get x64...

Don`t know why it`s not working then. Do you have an activation key for windows 7 somewhere on the outside of your case ?

No it's a custom build, but I do have a product key and everything. I am currently using the 32 bit operating system because it was the only thing I was allowed to choose and I wanted to get the OS up and running to test out my new machine.

Download the 64 Bit iso version for your key from here.

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

Burn to disc using Imgburn at 4x speed.

Make a test partition, 40 Gigs is plenty, from your 32 bit windows. Try to install windows 64 bit on that partition. That way you won`t loose what you have. Make sure you backup files, pics, etc. before you start.

Awesome, I will try this and update the status of this thread on my phone as I go. Thanks for the responses. *Crosses Fingers*
