HDD or Raid Problem after fresh install on HP envy 6-1012tx

I bought an hp envy 6-1012tx ultrabook two months before and after 45 days it's hard drive crashed. As it was in warranty I took it to the nearby HP sales and services centre for repairing. They repaired it saying that the hard drive has been changed. Since I haven't made recovery discs, everything was gone. I brought it back home after repairing and installed a fresh win 7 home premium 64 bit on it but I was surprised when It show me only 59.5 gb hard drive out of its 500 GB hdd and 32 Gb ssd. At first I thought it would be ok after installation and installing drivers, But, All invain. Now it still shows only 59.5 gb space both in my computer and disc management tools. But shows it correctly in Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I don't know what to do I did a lot of research online but don't know anything. I'm completely confused. I'm new to raids and don't even know whether my machine is raid ready or not? Please help.

Here is a pic how it display my hdd in intel rapid storage technology

Please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map and listings:

    1. Type Disk Management in Start Search box.
    2. Open Disk Mgmt. window and maximize it.
    3. Type Snipping Tool in Start Search box.
    4. Open Snipping Tool, choose Rectangular Snip, draw a box around full map and all listings.
5, Save Snip, attach using paper clip in Reply Box.

Tell us what is on each partition.

Since it's unlikely RAID is needed for your configuration, look over these steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

Thanks gregrocker I have only installed an operating system and drivers listed on official hp website for my ultrabook. Plus I don't know anymore but it also shows only 59.5 gb space out of 500 gb hitachi hdd and 32 gb samsung ssd during win 7 64 bit home premium sp1 installation. Tell me how can I get full space during installation. And I have attached all the required snaps in attachment.

    Thanks.........

I do not know how it would span or mirror a small SSD with a large HD into RAID. I've not seen this before.

Until someone who knows comes by I would contact HP tech support and ask them. Please let us know what you find out.

I do know that in countless thousands of installs we've helped with here, RAID rarely works well with Win7 until it is unRAIDED with Win7 installed to one HD.

In your case you could install OS and Programs to the SSD to get maximum speed benefits, then link your User folders from HD to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums.

So if HP doesn't convince you of some fantastic benefit for this strange hybrid RAID, I'd ask them to walk you through unRAIDing it. But don't be surprised if they're not prepared for it. That's what we're for.

There should also be a Manual to read over on the HP Support Downloads webpage for your model.

Yes I tried for a clean re install but it also shows 59.5 gb during installation. I tried to install ubuntu too but that also didn't solve my problem. And in my opinion contacting hp is useless I talked to them several times but useless. I don't know about the quality of service in US but here they assigned us some dumb ass indians who don't even know my model support raid or not? If it isn't then why it came preinstalled with Intel Rapid strorage technology. And why they have softwares like Intel RST for install on the official page for my model. And if you know that It don't support it them please tell me how to improve space during installation?
    thanks.............

Go the the Support Downloads webpage for your model, download or read the Manual there to find out exactly how to unRAID the two HD"s.

It should be done on the page you posted, perhaps on the Advanced tab. Can you post another screenshot of it? But the Manual will tell you for sure.

Then back up your files, unplug the HD to Clean Install Windows 7 to the SSD.

After install, plug back in the HD and wipe it of all code with Diskpart Clean Command,
then in Disk Mgmt partition it for data storage as you please, copy back in the User folders, rightclick each to link to related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums
